Joss Whedon talks S.H.I.E.L.D. series

“It’s a very hopeful show”

Joss Whedon has his fingers in many pies at present, including his return to TV work in the form of the S.H.I.E.L.D. series, a show he’s taken time out to shed a little light on…

“I’m excited about the show because it’s a very hopeful show,” explains Whedon. “It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons.”

“It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that.”

Although Clark Gregg is set to be reprising his role as Agent Coulson, Whedon has warned that the series won’t be a production line of familiar faces, although one of two might pop up along the way.

“Right now, I want to involve people in the characters that we’ve created for the show,” says Whedon, “and then we’ll worry about [cameos].”

With that in mind, Whedon went on to suggest that Cobie Smulders’ involvement as Maria Hill will be limited by her schedule, but confirmed that, “if we can get hold of her anytime, we will.” The show is expected to debut in the US later this year…

Who would you like to see cameo in the show? Tell us, below!

I couldn’t be more excited about this show, with Joss Whedon behind it, I can only imagine how amazing the characters will be. I am excited to see the pilot, and I am glad that I don’t risk missing it with my DISH Anywhere app. I always have my DVR set to automatically record the shows I watch, so I don’t fall behind with my busy work schedule at DISH. I then use my app to stream shows recorded on my DVR, in addition to live TV right to my tablet. There’s nothing better than spending my long train home catching up with all of the shows I missed, and I love that I never worry about falling behind. This show is really going to be revolutionary; I can’t wait until I get to experience superhero adventures on a weekly basis.
