Earlier this year TF reported that the Highlander reboot was back on track, with RCR Media Group pitching in to help Summit Entertainment finance the film.
At that point Summit claimed Justin Lin was still on board when it came to directing.
Today Summit announced that Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intruders) will be helming the reboot - effectively removing Lin as head honcho in an apt nod to a series that uses decapitation to weed out weak warriors from the strong.
It seems Lin might have a touch of the immortal about him, though. The statement goes on to say that, “Justin Lin will also executive produce”.
Ramirez would be proud.
Highlander will be written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway and production is slated to begin spring of 2012.
