With Chloe Moretz already locked to play the titular teenager, Columbia have reportedly got Julianne Moore in their sights to join her in their upcoming remake of classic horror film, Carrie.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the studio are currently "speaking closely" with Moore, who has been earmarked to play Carrie's mother, a fundamentalist Christian with some rather unreconstructed parenting techniques.
As you'll remember from Brian De Palma's original, Carrie's mother is a bit of a monster, ensuring that even the troubled teen's home is no refuge from the bullying that takes place at school, and the burgeoning telekinesis that's beginning to overcome her.
We were initially fairly sceptical over the idea of a Carrie remake, although if Columbia continue to recruit actors of the same quality as Moretz and Moore, we may yet be proved wrong. Jodie Foster had previously been considered for Moore's role, further strengthening the notion that the studio are aiming high with this one.
Adapted from the novel by Stephen King and directed byBoys Don't Cryhelmer Kimberly Peirce, Carrie will open in the US on 15 March 2013, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.

GOD DAMN IT! I swore i wouldn't see this but Julianne Moore? Though on the other hand a great talent doesn't always mean a great film i.e Toni Collette in Fright Night.
