Jurassic Park 4 is renamed Jurassic World

Set for June 2015 release date

Universal has made a couple of interesting announcements regarding its forthcoming Jurassic Park sequel, with the project getting both a new title and release date.

The fourth film in the series will now be known as Jurassic World, and is set to land in US cinemas on 12 June 2015, just in case that summer schedule wasn’t already epic enough.

Just how the title chimes with the plot of the film remains to be seen, although given how the initial screenplay was set to tell the story of a new park built on Isla Nublar, could this be an in-world re-brand of the park itself?

We’re assuming of course that that story is still intact, although director Colin Trevorrow is said to have performed significant rewrites on the original draft by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Hopefully all will become clear now than a release date is officially locked in, with casting news likely to start trickling through in the next couple of months…

What do you think of the new title? Tell us, below!

after 3 films it would be nice to actually see a functioning park, first the 'ooohs and the 'ahhhs' then the running, and the screaming

@Jareth64 How can you comment on that when you haven't even seen a trailer? I have a feeling this could be a good sequel/reboot like how ROTPOTA is a good prequel/reboot. We will find out in 2015...

Great news, although they're limiting themselves in terms of scope for sequels. It should have been 'Jurassic Land' first, followed by 'Jurassic World' with 'Jurassic Land Paris' to close the new trilogy.

I'm hoping the title will mean a rebuilt/opened park, one that's up and running successfully before we get to see it. I like the idea of underwater water dinosaurs being featured in this one although i straight away think of jaws 3!! Definitely looking forward to the trailer.

Westworld became Futureworld...Jurassic park becomes Jurassic World...that means the reboot of back to the future will be 'back to the park' and the sequel will be 'Wild Wild future'? i think i'd watch both

As a massive fan of Safety Not Guaranteed I live in hope for this. However, as a massive fan of 500 days of Summer I lived in hope for The Amazing Spiderman and look how that turned out...

Shame, I was hoping for Jurassic Pork. I would pay to see a film about prehistoric bacon.

But Seedorf there were no pigs during the Jurassic period. They evolved much later after all the dinosaurs were extinct

Whats the f*****g point in this? The first one was great for its time but what more is there to say? That last one was awful - wanted to feed the dumb woman in it who kept screaming for her kid (on an island full of man eating 40 foot tall reptiles) to the Velociraptors (if they weren't too busy figuring out how to open doors or build furniture from Argos that is)
