Despite several sequels and TV-spin-offs, the world is clearly not sick of the clan MacLeod as the Highlander remake is now officially on track.
Yes, it's not surprising that, after nabbing the rights to the characters from Davis-Panzer Productions, Summit Entertainment is pushing ahead with the reboot, hoping to launch a brand new franchise.
Fast And Furious director Justin Lin and producer Neal H Moritz have signed on to develop the film, and Iron Man writers Ar Macum and Matt Holloway will pen the script.
Apparently, Summit wants to expand on the basic Highlander premise of immortal warriors battling across the ages, but won't forget to focus on Scottish sword-swinger Connor MacLeod, who must stop a nasty barbarian type from claiming a fabled prize.
So expect plenty of head-lopping and quickening-searching as the new Highlander - whoever gets cast - aims to kickstart a fresh round of battles.
Wonder if they can convince Shir Shean Connery to make a cameo? Doubt it…

If they must make a new Highlander for god sake hire an actor from Scotland. The most obvious choice would be Gerry Butler.
