Jason Reitman’s next film Labor Day has landed two twinkly A-list stars in the svelte forms of Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
Adapted from Joyce Maynard’s novel of the same name, the film follows a lonely mother who takes in a drifter. She soon discovers, though, that he's a convicted murderer.
Reitman both wrote the adaptation of the novel and will direct, with shooting set to kick off in New England next year.
The Juno director is currently finishing up work on Young Adult, which Diablo Cody penned and stars Charlize Theron and Patrick Wilson.
Labor Day’s plot sounds more like a quirky dark comedy than a full-on drama (as is Reitman’s speciality), which should make a nice change for Winslet, who’s favoured more hard-hitting material in recent years.
