Katherine Heigl is clearly looking to avoid the romantic comedy pigeonhole. While she is shooting rom-com The Ugly Truth, the 27 Dresses star has lined up something quite different for her next film.
Escape’s plot will chronicle the events surrounding Carolyn Jessop, who was one of the key witnesses against fundamentalist sect leader Warren Jeffs across the pond. Jeffs, the charismatic leading light of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints was convicted of rape for the arranged marriages he helped orchestrate, including Jessop’s.
Heigl is producing the biopic, which will be adapted from Jessop’s memoir. Variety is covering the story.
