Kerry Washington to lead Django Unchained

Actress wins part of Broomhilda in Quentin Tarantino’s new Western

It has been a long casting process, but today Quentin Tarantino finally found his Broomhilda.
Kerry Washington has landed the lead female role in Django Unchained.
The search has come to an end with Tarantino getting the actress he had his eye on from the beginning.
Kerry Washington, who had roles in Ray and The Last King Of Scotland and is to appear alongside Eddie Murphy in upcoming comedy A Thousand Words, has been rumoured for the part for a while.
She has now been confirmed, with producers The Weinstein Company entering negotiations with her representatives last night.
Washington will play Broomhilda, the wife of the titular Django (Jamie Foxx) and the woman who inspires his rampage of revenge.
The New York born actress will be surrounded by an A-list cast, with Leonardo Di Caprio, Samuel L Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell and Christoph Waltz all signed on to the project.
The film is scheduled for release on Christmas Day 2012

I'd rather see Halle Berry in the role. She as a better actress and wayyyyy hotter.

I can't wait, casting sounds perfect. It just sucks that we have to wait until December 2012. The way it's being talked about it feels as though it's going to come out soon.

Oct 27th 2011, 4:40 choice would be Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible 4). but Kerry's a good choice, too. she's FINE and she surely can ACT. this means she'll reunite with her on-sreen hubby, in Ray, J. Foxx. the most surprising cast so far in this project is still LEO i'm the king of the world DICAPRIO. actually, he and JGL could make a nice sibling pair...they look somewhat. but, i don't think JGL's character is related to Leo's. having christoph, kurt and sam (all 3, tarantino vets) is awesome. i wonder if Harvey Keitel would join em soon. i wish this'll be way better than the overrated Inglourious Basterds, though....

The cast just keeps getting better and better, all we need now is Jackson to complete it.
