Kevin Feige says Marvel has films planned until 2021

“We’re more than just five franchises”

Kevin Feige has been talking about Marvel’s long-term plans, and claims that the studio has films mapped out for as far away as 2021.

With Phase 2 now well underway, the Studio President has been looking a little further down the track, and suggests that there are plenty of surprises in the pipeline.

“Five years ago, looking at our plan, we knew that if Avengers was going to work, the movies had to stand alone,” says Feige. “Now we have to prove to the studio that we’re more than just these five characters, these five franchises.”

With three untitled movies slated to arrive in 2016 and 2017, we could see that expansion happen in the next couple of years, while the Marvel landscape could be entirely different by 2021.

“I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021,” says Feige. “Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.”

Marvel’s next offering will beThor: The Dark World  which will open on 8 November 2013.

He is just flexing his muscle at WB/DC: "This is how you do it!"

All I want to know is does Kevin have any plans at all to talk to Fox or Sony regarding Wolverine and Spider-Man. If those two were to appear in an Avengers movie Avatar's box office record would be obliterated.

This is exactly why the Marvel series is working, and the whole Batman vs Superman leading into Justice League project is doomed to failure. Marvel have been planning this for a decade, and DC are hastily trying to cobble something together to try and cash in.

Its all well and good saying they have all these wonderful plans but the fact is that these films have all been mediocre or just plain rubbish. Iron Man was ok but the sequels sucked. Thor was forgettable nonsense. The Hulk films have been very poor and Captain America was utterly atrocious. The Avengers itself was ok, nothing more. It baffles me as to where this hysteria is coming from?? The comic book movie thing is going to implode. Warners had it right with the Dark Knight films which were BY FAR the best of the superhero films that have been made. But they have now just abandoned that approach and are heading down the same path with this ridiculous Justice League idea. Why can't everyone see that quality has been sacrificed just to make as much cash as possible? That all it is now - box office. The sad thing is if you do these things the right way they make a lot of money anyway (The Dark Knight made 1 billion - is that not enough??) . I wont be seeing anymore Marvel films - waste of time and money. Also wont be seeing the Warners stuff if they insist on following the same tedious, brain dead formula just to make obscene profits.
