With the success of Clerks II and the anticipation building for his first crack at horror (Red State), we’re naturally excited to hear more details on TF favourite (and former guest editor) Kevin Smith’s new comedy.

Chatting with the LA times, Smith has revealed that the title of his new film – which sold Harvey Weinstein on it before he’d read a word of the script – is Zack And Miri Make A Porno. According to the director, it’s a “bawdy sex comedy with heart” which finds two 30-something friends who are bemoaning their lack of achievement. A 15-year school reunion and money troubles force their hand: they’ll start their own amateur porn company.

"It's … dirty, with nudity," adds the director in the interview. "But funny nudity, not gratuitous nudity." Hey, guess what? He just sold us on the concept too…

Clerks II co-star Rosario Dawson is Kev’s top choice for the movie, though she hasn’t read the script yet. Given how much she enjoyed working with the man before, we’re sure she’ll be signing up.

Red State will lumber before the cameras first, as Smith needs to wait for a Minnesota winter to shoot Zack And Miri, so that will start filming next February.
