Seth Gordon, who directed 2007’s excellent cult documentary King Of Kong: A Fistful Of Quarters, has been recruited by MGM to remake WarGames.
The original film was released in 1983, and was directed by Short Circuit’s John Badham. Matthew Broderick starred as a computer prodigy who discovers that his military game could launch real missiles.
Gordon’s got quite a challenge on his hands, considering Badham’s film garnered three Oscar nominations in the Sound, Cinematography and Writing departments.
The King Of Kong director most recently helmed comedy Horrible Bosses, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, and opens next month.
WarGames will be financed by MGM, who is loving the remakes at the moment, having set in motion plans to also reboot RoboCop and Carrie on the big screen.

Basically what the @ScottFree and @MattShepherd said. I caught it on Channel 4 some years back, loved it and was hoping that this would at least be one of the ones they would leave alone...Not to be, obviously :(
