Knock knock knockin' on Dylan's door

Velvet Goldmine helmer shooting biopic of folk hero

The trend of musical biopics continues to add to its alumni with writer-director Todd Haynes announcing an impressive cast for his Bob Dylan flick, I’m Not There.

Haynes has scribbled a script that will require seven actors of varying ages to play the six-string strumming folk legend.

The lenser has signed up Christian Bale, Colin Farrell and Richard Gere – though confirmation that any of them will portray the tambourine man himself has not been released as of yet.

Haynes has also snagged the services of Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Julianne Moore for the summer shoot, slated to take place in the interesting surroundings of Romania.

I’m Not There marks the first biographical feature project that the ageing singer-songwriter has given his blessing to.
