Lasse Hallstrom hears voices for Sammy

He’ll direct an unconventional telepathic rom com

There are so many romantic comedies clogging up the genre that when studios plan a new one they’re always looking for a new twist on the conventions.

Sony thinks it might have found one, nabbing Lasse Hallström to direct Sammy, written by Delia (sister-of-Nora) Ephron.

The plot finds a woman with the Dr Dolittle-like ability to hear what animals are saying. That sounds like a twist enough in itself, but there’s more… she meets a man who gets telepathic around dead people. So that’s the Sixth Sense With Animals And Awkward Dates, then?

There’s no one cast yet, but with Hallström on board you can bet some decent thesps will want to jump aboard.
