Many months ago (August 2007, to be exact), the likes of IESB.net and Ain’t It Cool picked up rumblings that Die Hard 4.0 helmer Len Wiseman was in talks to tackle the film of Microsoft’s Gears Of War game.
Now Variety has confirmed him as the director and that he’ll work with writer Chris Morgan on a new draft of a script originally written by Stuart Beattie.
Much like Microsoft’s other wannabe film franchise, Halo, Gears finds humanity under attack from nasty alien invaders who want to steal our dogs and seduce our women. Or, you know, something. Here’s hoping the film gets moving a little quicker than Halo…
