Liam Hemsworth joins The Expendables 2

Hemsworth brother to appear in ensemble action-movie

His older brother Chris will be appearing next year as Thor in Joss Whedon's Avengers, and now Liam Hemsworth has landed a role with his very own bunch of 2012 beefcakes.

Liam joins Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jean Claude Van-Damme, Chuck Norris and Randy Couture in Expendables 2, an action-sequel so masculine it could probably make men pregnant.

And with John Travolta, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Nic Cage and Terry Crews all rumoured to be appearing, Hemsworth is probably going to spend the first few weeks on set wondering if he's experiencing some sort of fever dream.

Basically, if they shot The Avengers in the ‘80s that's what the cast would look like.

We're not sure who would play Black Widow, though. Statham?

What Chris thinks of his little brother getting in on the 2012 ensemble-movie action is as yet unconfirmed, as is who would win if the Avengers and Expendables ever had a fight.

Now there's a sequel we'd pay good money to see...

Catch The Expendables 2 on 17 August 2012 – that’s only 331 days away!

Excited for part 2 you ask; how can anyone not be? With a cast that reads like the Oceans Eleven of action films this should be one of the best films of 2012 and presumably Hemsworth's inclusion puts an end to the Taylor Lautner nonsense. My only concern is a lack of screen time for everybody if Sly includes any more big names. Cage and Travolta made great action films in the 90's but I'd sooner save them for part 3, maybe as handlers of Willis' Mr Church character. One other name that needs including, the one and only Carl Weathers.

Wouold have loved for Stallone to do Expendables 2 with the hardcore female action heroes: Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Rothrock, Jeanette Goldstein, Zhang Ziyi, Geena Davis etc (Will probably get lots of disagreement on this from certain people on the site)... Maybe leave this for Expendables 3...?

Ok, maybe 'hardcore' is a bit much, but these all made good action movies at one point and it'd be great to see them together kicking Stallone's a**!
