Today it was announced that Logan’s Run, which is set to begin filming next year, has hired a new writer.
Andrew Baldwin, who penned 2008 Black List script The West Is Dead, has been brought onto the project to redraft the current script.
Ryan Gosling has already been confirmed to play Michael York’s character Logan. Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn will occupy the director’s chair.
The pair previously collaborated on hit pulp-thriller Drive, and are set to work together again on Bangkok Thai-boxing drama Only God Forgives.
Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and Will Beall (Gangster Squad) have both already contributed to the current script.
As of yet, the film has no provisional release date, though production is unlikely to get underway until Only God Forgives has wrapped.

I am a bit jaded on the first one since I am a big fan of the books which blew the movie out of the water. All of my friends loved it, but never read the book so they had no story comparison. I was a kid and I left the theater p********f on how they destroyed a great story. On that note, I am thrilled that a remake is in the works. I think Ryan Gosling will be great, but the books had the age limit at 21. The movie bumped that up to 29 allowing for an older cast. Of course I will reserve any judgement until I see the finished product on the silver screen, but anything should be better then the original. I can't wait to see Box.
