Luc Besson, the French director behind classics Léon and Nikita, is being tipped for a new romantic drama.
The top secret project would be Besson’s first time directing a live action English-speaking film in over a decade, the last being his Joan Of Arc opus starring Milla Jovovich.
Writer David Marconi of Die Hard 4 and upcoming horror The Fulfilment has reportedly written a love story script that Besson will direct.
Though the Gallic director has helmed this year’s comic adap The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec as well as 2005’s Angel-A and 2006’s Arthur And The Invisibles, Besson has steered clear of helming live English speaking flicks since 1999.
Instead, he has preferred to produce, helping to get funds for the likes of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, the Transporter series and, uh, Bandidas.
His return to British (well, American) shores is being treated with the utmost secrecy, with the title and synopsis of Marconi’s script unknown at present. Still, whispers suggest that shooting could begin as early as September. We hope there are guns. And Jean Reno.
