Marc Forster won't direct the World War Z sequel

No more zombies for German director

Director Marc Forster won't be involved in a sequel to World War Z.

Though no explicit reason was given for the director's decision not to helm a second round of zombie carnage,The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he won't be returning.

Which isn't exactly a surprise given the notoriously torturous production of the first film - which included shooting an entirely new third act.

Despite the fact that World War Z went on to become one of 2013's biggest box office hits, it seems Forster doesn't fancy going through all of that again.

One person who definitely is returning, though, is Brad Pitt, who is setting the sequel up at his production company Plan B Entertainment.

“We are talking about it," Pitt told THR. "We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.”

Bring on the sequel and get Drew Goddard to direct. Oh, and more gore next time.

crogrob - It should be a more adult version, yes. But it wont be. The money men will have seen that at 12 it made a substantial profit and will push for more of the same. Which means no gore. For that keep watching The Walking Dead.

I wish Pitt could get Finhcer to direct the sequel, it would never happen but just think of the possibilities.

If they could get Fincher then I would be right up for seeing that! Good shout - doubt they could get someone like him interested though- as long as it isn't...McG.

How does a sequel work? The first film ended with the zombies no longer a threat to the humans. I would be interested to find out the origins of the disease but if there are no zombies attacking humans the tension is kinda gone. I suppose the film managed to be quite entertaining in a climate that is already saturated with zombie stuff, i'dwatch a sequel
