Mark Millar addresses possible Fantastic Four and X-Men crossovers

"I expect we will see more of that"

Comic writer and 20th Century Fox consultant Mark Millar has been talking about futureFantastic Four and X-Men movies, and the possibility of them crossing over.

When asked by SFX magazine if there was ever a chance of those two super-teams colliding on the big screen, the comic guru answered:

“Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies.

"I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”

Which isn't a definite confirmation, but it's certainly exciting to hear Fox's chief consultant acknowledging that those ideas are being chucked around the office.

The Fantastic Four reboot is currently in pre-production with Chronicle director Josh Trank calling the shots. No word yet on the cast, but if Chronicle's anything to go by, we should be in for a treat.

The next X-Men film,X-Men: Days Of Future Past, opens in the UK on 22 May 2014.

Fantastic Four opens on 5 March 2015.

I refuse to believe anything that comes out of Millar's mouth these days until a studio actually confirms it. He's too quick to speak up on things that studio's have clearly not been part of. He is far too full of himself since his name got 'big'. Wasn't it just a few years ago where he pretty much told the world of his plans for some big budget franchise reboot in his image and that he'd begin in, say, january, and the studio released the next day a statement that was pretty much a "uhhh... what was that? He said what? We didn't even know he'd asked us." kinda thing?

I'd be happy for them to start with just references to other characters without them actually been on screen. Surely there was scope to make a reference to Reed Richards in one of the Iron Man films, even if it was Pepper just goading Tony; maybe in reference to him asking who is smarter than he is.

SiMan, pretty sure there would have been a rights issue there seeing as the rights to fantastic four and iron man are owned by 2 different companies.

If Disney is locking up the rights to everything else Fox should make the most of what they've got and milk it. The ff films could be awesome if the characters were deeper

I would be excited for this had I not heard the awful Fantastic Four casting rumors. Seriously Fox are looking at a teenager for Reed Richards A FU.......TEENAGER!!!!! That character needs to played by a man.
