Mark Ruffalo experiences Blindness

In Fernando Meirelles’ latest

He’s played cops and cowards, screw-ups and slackers, but now Mark Ruffalo is returning to what he likes best – working with quality directors.

Having just finished acting for Terry George (Reservation Road) and Ryan Johnson (The Brothers Bloom), he’s signed on to star in The Constant Gardner director Fernando Meirelles’ latest, Blindness.

Julianne Moore is already on board to play the wife of Ruffalo’s doctor character. When an unexplained outbreak of sight-loss strikes a small town, everyone, except Moore, is afflicted with the symptoms.

It’s been adapted from Jose Saramago’s novel by Don McKellar, who, when he’s not busy being quirkily Canadian, also writes top notch stories about ordinary people in huge events, such as apocalyptic tale Last Night.

People start walking into things this summer in Brazil.
