Mark Wahlberg is Max Payne

An adaptation of the videogame…

It seems as though there are few videogames not in development these days – and Max Payne has always appeared to be a natural fit for a film.

So it’s not very surprising that 20th Century Fox has nabbed the rights to the game, which finds a cop still grieving his murdered family. His tragic loss has left him a lone wolf maverick warrior, who throws all the rules aside while investigating a series of weird slayings.

And just who does Fox want to play Payne? Mark Wahlberg, who – if he signs – will move from Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones to crazed gunplay.

John Moore, who last brought us The Omen, will call the shots from Beau Thorne’s script early next year.
