Marlon Wayans as Richard Pryor?

Eddie Murphy is out of Bill Condon's biopic…

Director Bill Condon may be close to finally striking a deal to bring his Richard Pryor biopic to the screen - but Eddie Murphy is nowhere to be seen.

No, now it appears that Marlon Wayans will be taking over playing the legendary comedian after Murphy either ditched the project or all involved realised it wouldn't work given the deal the actor wanted.

Condon originally developed the script at The Weinstein Company, but was then forced to shop it around thanks to the budget.

Now it looks like Sony will take a chance on the film, thanks to talks with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company and offers of producer support from the likes if Chris Rock and Mark Gordon.

The director will have around $20 million to shoot the biopic with Wayans in the lead - and he's looking at an early 2010 start.

As for Eddie Murphy? We're sure there's another fat suit comedy script just waiting to be tapped…

Give Marlon a chance to prove himself first before you start cursing like a teenager.
