Martin Lawrence joins Death At A Funeral

Tracy Morgan is aboard too

Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan have joined the cast of comedy remake Death At A Funeral, which Neil LaBute is directing.

Taking its plot from Frank Oz’s 2007 British-set comedy, the film will relocate to the States for the tale of a family gathering for a patriarch’s send-off, only for old tensions and new blackmail to bubble to the surface.

A man gatecrashes the wake, claiming to be the deceased’s gay lover.

We’re not sure who will be replacing Peter Dinklage in that role, but the cast has come together including Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Loretta Devine and Ron Glass.

Oh, plus Chris Rock, who nabbed the lead a few weeks ago, in addition to co-adapting the script with Aeysha Carr.

We’re not sure the film needed to be remade, but we’re intrigued to see what LaBute and this cast will do with it…

Did you see the original? How do you think this version will match up?
