Martin Scorsese preps Goodfellas prequel with Nicholas Pileggi

TV series to be overseen by Marty

When we first head about the possibility of a Goodfellas TV series, we thought it was a joke. And not a particulary funny one.

But writer Nicholas Pileggi has not only confirmed it's happening, he's revealed that Martin Scorsese is involved. And it'll be a prequel.

“I want to do it, Marty wants to do it, Warner Bros wants to do it. Of course, you can’t pick up from Goodfellas, since we murdered everybody, or rather, everybody was murdered! There’s nobody left.”

"But I think we're going to figure out a way to do the early years - sort of a prequel."

We're not sure why they're so keen, Goodfellas is a perfect film. And, anyway, haven't we already had a Goodfellas TV series, called The Sopranos?

The last (honestly) good Martin Scorsese movie? While Casino wasn't brilliant or anything relatively new it was at least very enjoyable, that was released somewhere in 1995...I wont hold my breath for this his latest attempt. Last words please, Scorsese has graced cinema with some phenomenal movies.
