Marvel reveals five new Avengers images

Nick Fury and his superteam

Marvel has thrown a bone to all those Avengers obsessives counting down the days until the film's April release by unveiling a handful of new images.

The new shots include a closer look at Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury than we've previously been privy to, and what looks like a fairly intimate encounter between Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

Check out the images in full below:

The Avengers aren't showing any signs of going away soon, as this week Captain America actor Neal McDonough stated that Thor 2 will be immediately followed by Captain America 2 and a Nick Fury movie.

The Avengers opens on 27 April 2012.

Are you glad Marvel are lining up the future instalments? Or are you reserving judgement until you've seen The Avengers? Let us know!

@bachchan how about Dev Patel to play a young Nick Fury. I think that would be awesome. :)

Except from the fact Nick Fury is black, and Dev Patel is Indian and looks nothing like him and looks like a teenager, oh yeah great idea Dalidab. You have excelled yourself.

Once more, a mention of Scarlett Johansson and sergal pops up with his ridiculous cloning theories. He's even dumber than Dalidab... Murphy good shout on Ejiofor, I'd not of thought of him but could definitely see him in the role.

Not sure if Whedon would have any say on it but he's worked with Ejiofor before and has such a good relationship with Marvel that it wouldn't surprise me.

Yes so what I think Dev Patel would play a fantastic young Nick Fury. all you have to do is shave his head bald & put an eye patch on him. but how about Djimon Hounsou or Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to play a young version of Nick Fury instead. but imho I still prefer the original white version of Nick Fury though. :-)

Djimon Hounsou looks older than Samuel L Jackson does now, and Adewale is Nigerian. Neither have the right voice, or build to play Samuel L Jackson. Having said that, at least they're actually black, unlike Dev Patel. Dalidab, really, I know you're stupid, but that's like saying Denzel Washington should play a young Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. I'm not one of these Politically correct types, but please think about what you're saying next time as I know a couple of people who'd have been quite insulted by that suggestion. This isn't me having a go at you for your customary b******t, this is you appearing to say 'oh it's ok for a black character to be played by a totally different race, they're both brown'. I really hope you don't genuinely think like that.

@Writterdave87; 'I'm not one of these politically correct types, but please think about what you're saying next time as I know a couple of people who'd have been quite insulted by that suggestion.' Exactly when has that ever stopped Dalidab?

I have got many gay black, jewish, pagan, traveler, emo, vegetarian, down syndrome, bisexual, lesbian and transgender friends in my life who I am rather close to and have fun with. so you dont have to worry about that ok. :-)

Hold on I'm confused. Is that black, jewish, pagan, traveler, emo, vegetarian, down syndrome, bisexual, lesbian and transgender friends who are all gay or is it just the black person who's gay? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you meant the latter mainly because calling a lesbian gay is slightly redundant. Also forgive me for being the Grammar Nazi but when you say "I am not at all racist or prejudice what so ever against nobody" means you're racist and prejudiced towards everybody. "SixStepSamurai" is right. You did say you hated bisexual people. You almost denied their existence if I remember correctly. Plus how the hell could anyone be prejudiced towards people who suffer from down syndrome?

Dalidab you have said on multiple occasions that 'bisexual people do not exist, you're either one or the other, bisexual people are lying, etc, etc.' You've also called all straight men rapists. You've also made sexist comments about women you don't like. You are already a hateful, disgusting, prejudiced, lying little cuntish s**t, I just wasn't sure if we can add 'racist' to the large numbers of epithets that describe just how much of a failed attempt at a normally functioning human being you actually are.

@Hadouken76 yes we all know that. but the character of Nick Fury used to be white originally in the comics. which imho I thought was the better version of the character and it should have stayed that way. but I think the new black version of Nick Fury is equally as excellent. I just miss the old version thats all. :-)

@TheKingofCinema in the Ultimate version of the Marvel Comics Nick Fury was black, originating early 00s and Samual L Jackson appears to have been the model for the character (by the way not a huge comics fanboy, just like the films so wikipedia gave me the background). So if the films follow the more modern 'Ultimate' version of events, Samuel L Jackson is the perfect fit for him. As for a younger version, Ejiorfor is a great shout, failing that maybe John Cho is free eh Dalidab?
