Matt Dillon plays Chess

The life of a legendary music producer

BY Total Film Oct 15th 2007 0:00AMFILED UNDER: Movie news

Matt Dillon might have been playing the blues after being forced to appear in the humourless “comedy” You, Me And Dupree (fnarr), but he’ll get the chance to play one of the men who helped shaped the music in a new biopic.

Cadillac Records will follow the rise and fall of Chess Records, and its charismatic founder, Leonard Chess. Working in Chicago’s south side, he helped to launch the career of Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Etta James. And there’s even a triumphant finale all set for the movie- as Chess was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987.

Darnell Martin has written the script and will step behind the cameras this coming January in Chicago and New Jersey.
