Max Irons will be joining Percy Jackson’s Jake Abel in The Host – not a remake of the South Korean monster movie (although that is being developed) – but the first adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s non-Twilight work.
Irons, 26-year-old star of Red Riding Hood and son of actor Jeremy, and Abel will take the lead male roles in the sci-fi that will see them star opposite Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) before she is captured by a species called 'souls', after rebelling against their takeover of Earth.
Andew Niccol (InTime) is locked in to direct.
Its 2013 release will coincide with a Twilight-shaped absence, with the final film Breaking Dawn - Part 2 premiering next November.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 arrives in cinemas on 18 November.
