Melissa Leo, whose performance in The Fighter has landed her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at this year’s Oscars, has found herself at the centre of a bit of an ad war.
The actress’ ‘Four Your Consideration’ ads, which have appeared in numerous trade papers in the lead up to Sunday’s Academy Awards event, have been criticised by animal activists.
They’re angry that the actress appears in faux-fur. But Leo’s confused about all the controversy, telling The Daily Beast:
“I've been busting my ass, trying to get the movie sold and seen, and now I show up where they ask, get put into hair and make-up that they pay for, so I can promote this thing.
“So I'm a little confused. I thought this is what we're doing. This is what all the girls are doing. It didn't seem so nomination-oriented. It was fun.”
