We’ve been waiting for a while to see actual footage from Monster House, the follow-up to Polar Express. Polar director Robert Zemeckis is producing, not directing this one (he’s a little busy handling Beowulf), but it’s been made in the same way as Express, with motion-captured performances from the likes of Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jason Lee.
This time, however, it’s clear that Zemeckis and co have chosen not to attempt the more realistic humans of Polar Express – which led to some slightly disturbing glassy-eyed mannequin children – and have aimed for a more stylised look. The results are impressive, and the tale of a house that tries to snack on a group of trick-or-treating kids one spooky night, looks like fun. Check out the trailer here.
