Moody trailer for Richard Ayoade's The Double online

Featuring Jesse Eisenberg and… Jesse Eisenberg

We've been excited about The Double, Richard Ayoade's follow-up to his critically acclaimed Submarine, for a while now. And not just because he's our columnist.

Now the first trailer's landed, and it appears our giddiness was entirely justified.

Basically looking like Dostoevsky via Black Swan, this is an artful couple of minutes, enhanced by the presence of blues classic Grinnin' In Your Face by Son House on the soundtrack.

And spoiler-phobes should feel safe, this definitely isn't the sort of trailer that ruins the movie. We've watched it a few times now and we're still not entirely sure what the hell's going on.

But what we do know is this; we like it. We like it a lot.

Watch below, then tell us what you think in the comments!

That's how you do a trailer. Peaking the interest without forcing every plot point and emotional beat of the finished article down the gullet. I loved Submarine and eagerly await this, Ayoade has such great potential as a film maker.

Saw this yesterday at TIFF and it really is very good. Strange, hypnotic, strangely funny and slightly disturbing
