Warrior King snapped up by TC’s Paramount-based production house

Hip deep in nappies, missing all your favourite TV shows and never sleeping - most new parents don’t make plans much beyond the next feed but Tom Cruise is still hoovering up projects for Cruise/Wagner.

Cruise and his producing partner Paula Wagner have optioned a New York Times magazine article that tells the tale of an Army commander in Baghdad who resigns after his troops cause an Iraqi civilian’s death.

Lt Col Nathan Sassaman’s story was laid out in Dexter Filkin’s article, called The Warrior King. The script is being penned by playwright Stephen Belber, who has scribbled for Denis Leary’s award-winning show Rescue Me.

No word yet on whether Tom will take on the lead role.
