More familiar faces sign on for X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore will return

Bryan Singer’sX-Men: Days Of Future Past recruitment drive continues apace, with a trio of familiar faces all signing on to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.

Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have all been confirmed for the new film, with Singer taking to Twitter to announce the news.

“Thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!” said Singer, making reference to the director of X-Men: The Last Stand, who wasn’t shy about dispensing with some other key characters.

Paquin and Ashmore will continue to play star-crossed lovers Rogue and Iceman, while Ellen Page will return as Kitty Pryde. You might remember her being chased by Vinnie Jones in a muscle-suit last time out…

The character played a fairly pivotal role in the source comic, so Page's reappearance suggests that Singer could be cleaving closely to that story.

Co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 18 July 2014.

Dammit! Rogue, really? We need Colossus back instead... and since the First Class team has Banshee, it would have been a good chance to include Siryn again... you know, his daughter.

Doesn't really matter what Brett Ratner did, we're talking time travel. Singer can change anything he wants and create an alternate future, then use the 'past' to put it back correctly (such as retconning the whole of X3)

We could do without Shawn Ashmore, he really was a weak Iceman.

I'm actually kind of glad Marsden hasn't been signed on as of yet. Cyclops is one of the best X-Men characters (until he became a giant d****e in AvX) and he was wasted in the films, treat like an unimportant character and I imagine if he was brought back he'd be treat the same so I'd rather they just didn't bother.

With all of these former X-Men returning, I am getting even more excited about the prospects of this movie. It seems like Bryan Singer is really trying to tie everything together, and I can’t wait to see how he will go about this. To try to prepare for this movie, I have been watching the former X-Men movies using Blockbuster @Home from DISH. It helps that even with my late work schedule at DISH; I can watch the movies that I want. I just put everything on my cue and it gets delivered in the mail really quickly. I also love that if I am being forgetful and don’t send back my movie, I don’t have to wait, and can do an in store exchange. It seems like this movie is going to be a game changer for the X-Men franchise, and I think that Bryan Singer is just the man to pull it off.
