Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me is set to add a touch of gravitas to its already impressive cast with the news that Morgan Freeman is in talks with Summit Entertainment over a potential role.
The film follows a group of FBI agents tasked with cracking a group of light-fingered magicians known as 'The Four Horsemen'. The quartet’s act is actually a front for a series of bank heists, with the Horsemen casting some of their ill-gotten gains cast into the audience to aid their escape.
Freeman has been pencilled in to play Thaddeus, a loathed former-member of the Magic Circle who has made a living by exposing the tricks of his fellow magicians.
Freeman joins a cast that already includes Jesse Eisenberg, Mélanie Laurent and Mark Ruffalo, with a script in place from Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt.
It all sounds like Now You See Me will be a blast of light-hearted fun, a high-stakes game of cops and robbers with a healthy dose of magic thrown in for good measure. No release date has been mentioned as yet, but in the meantime Freeman will be seen in family flick Dolphin Tale before The Dark Knight Rises comes looming into cinemas next summer.
