Natalie Portman is now attached to play the lead in Darren Aronofsky’s spooky ballet thriller Black Swan.
Set in the world of New York’s tutu-wearing crowd, the story finds a veteran dancer (Portman) locked in a bitter rivalry with a colleague.
But is her competition a supernatural being, or just all in her mind?
It’s good news for the film and its director, as the news – along with Aronofsky’s improved clout post-Wrestler – means that it should finally be dragged from development hell.
Universal set it up back in 2007, but soon shoved it into turnaround. Now, with Portman in the main role, Aronofsky’s agents are busy drumming up interest elsewhere.
Of course, it might have to wait until the director is finished working on Robocop…

sounds weird, but in a good way. Plus Aronofsky and Portman are both brilliant at what they do. I thought Robocop wasn't happening though?
