Neil Burger reacts to Divergent / The Hunger Games comparisons

"The comparisons are inevitable - it's flattering"

Based on a series of hugely successful Young Adult novels, set in the future, and featuring a bad-ass, strong female lead, it's somewhat predictable that Divergent is being compared to that other sci-fi franchise, The Hunger Games.

During a natter to discuss all things Divergent (expect a host of interesting videos coming soon), we quizzed the director on the endless comparisons, and what he thought of their validity.

Watch the video below to hear what he has to say.

Divergent opens in UK cinemas 4 April 2014.

No, it's a totally different young adult movie set in a dystopian future with a female lead who falls for her male co star and upsets the authorities...honest Guv.

Lol how his answers are now totally different from how he kept trashing thg before Divergent came out. and now that his movie are barely meeting projections and has even recovered it's budget yet, he is now singing a different tune. But even here, he can't fully articulate how Tris is different from Katniss and how Divergent is not a derivative of the hunger games.
