New action-packed trailer for Pacific Rim: watch now

“2,500 tons of awesome”

Pacific Rim has released a new trailer online, featuring a whole host of action-studded new footage from the monsters vs. robots epic.

The new trailer does a pretty good job of laying the narrative groundwork without compromising on spectacle. Giant robot using an oil tanker to club a giant monster around the head? Check!

The film is set on an Earth that has been invaded by giant beasties known as Kaiju. Humanity’s last hope? Equally giant robots known as Jaegers. Let battle commence!

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Phew! If you weren’t convinced that Pacific Rim was going to be one of the most spectacular films of the summer, there can surely be no doubting it now. That’s what we call a tentpole blockbuster…

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and co-starring Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, Pacific Rim opens in the UK on 12 July 2013.

What do you think of the new trailer? Tell us, below!

I'm not sure where Godzilla is going to go after seeing that. But hopefully Mothra will set them apart. Looks amazing.

Well I think it's safe to assume GDT is a fan of Sons Of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Wire.

Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, Elysium .. 2013 seems to be the year of people attaching themselves to high-powered robotic weapons.
