New blood-spattered poster for Carrie

And the film is pushed back until October

Sony’s upcoming remake of Carrie has received a grisly new poster, but has also been delayed by a good seven months from its original release date.

The film had initially been slated to arrive in March, only for the studio to shunt it back until October 2013. Given that it’s a horror film, it certainly seems a more natural release date, and likelier to reap the financial rewards of Halloween as a consequence.

Meanwhile, the new poster follows the theme of the other promotional material we’ve seen so far, namely by playing up Carrie’s blood-stained prom dress.

“You will know her name,” boom’s the tagline, which seems a fairly modest promise from a remake, but is nice and atmospheric all the same.

Directed by Kimberly Peirce and co-starring Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore and Judy Greer, Carrie will open in the US on 18 October 2013, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.

The tag line "You will know her name" is a play on a line in the musical version where there's a song that features the line "no-one knows her name."
