New Captain America image shows off Red Skull

First full look at big bad

captain america

Captain America has been taking its time teasing us with new material over the past year or so, but we’ve finally been given our first proper look at Hugo Weaving as villain Red Skull.

After his split-second debut in last month's Superbowl ad, Red Skull has been revealed in all his antagonistic glory in an Entertainment Weekly spread.

And boy is he something to look at. Wrapped in leather, with bullet-like giant metal studs – not to mention that very cool Hydra belt – he’s every bit the image of evil that we hoped he would be.

We don’t think we’ve been this scared of a bloke with a skull for a head since Frank Langella hammed it up in Masters Of The Universe. And that’s saying something.

EW also report that this film version of the America story sees weapons developer Johann Schmidt transform into Red Skull after he's injected with the same Super Solider serum that creates Captain America.

The First Avenger: Captain America opens 29 July.

He definatley looks the part, as soon as Huo Weavings name was attached to the Red Skull i knew he would be brilliant, however i am not to sure on the story myself. i much prefare the original Comics Canon. Can't be as bad a Thor is going to be though right?

I think Mr Wuu meant to say it can't be as bad as The Green Lantern is going to be !

That was a bit harsh Nacho. Reynold's was one of the few things I liked about Blade Trinity, especially the line Thunder...t line.

Ryan Reynolds isn't gay, he's married to Scarlett Johansen. The Green Lantern trailer looked atrocious, a cheesy CGI affair that made The Fantastic Four look like Nolan's batman's.

Ali's right, the Green Lantern trailer made Sky High look good. I think Ryan Reynold's can be good, usually when he has his 'serious beard' on (I thought he was great in Smoking Aces for example), but apart from Van Wilder I can't think of one film I've enjoyed of his where he's been clean shaven. Odd.

And I love how everyone's saying Hugo Weaving has recreated another iconic character and live up to Frank Langella etc when we've only seen two pictures of him...
