A hit Hanna-Barbera cartoon, which spawned two ropey live action films, the legacy of The Flintstones is set to continue with a new animated feature to be exec produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
The project, following the ‘Modern stone age family’ is being developed by Warner Bros with a script etched by Chris Henchy (who co-wrote Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis comedy The Campaign).
No word yet on whether Ferrell will voice grumpy quarry worker Fred Flintstone, though it would seem like an obvious choice.
If it was up to us we’d have Christina Hendricks as his wife Wilma and Owen Wilson as his best friend Barney Rubble....
Hanna-Barbera are responsible for Yogi Bear, Top Cat and The Smurfs, each relatively recently given its own terrible movie spin-off. Let’s hope Ferrell and McKay can smash the trend.
Stay classy, Bedrock…
