New full-length trailer for The Bourne Legacy: watch now

"There was never just one"

The Bourne Legacy has released a new full-length trailer, shedding a little more light on new leading man Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) and what links this film to the rest of the Bourne series.

After introducing all-new man of action Cross (who we learn has been the beneficiary of some progressive genetic tinkering) the new trailer teasingly meshes scenes from the new film with footage from the previous movies, demonstrating how the plot runs in parallel with the events we’ve already seen.

The message of how,“there was never just one,” is very much the focus of this new trailer, Bourne’s globetrotting exploits playing out off-screen as Cross begins to wreak a little havoc of his own. Well, more than a little, actually.

Take a look at the new trailer, below...

We’ve always been confident that Renner was a good pick to fill Matt Damon’s considerable shoes, and this new footage has done nothing to dissuade us. If Hawkeye was a handy marksman, Aaron Cross makes him look like a rank amateur, displaying deadly accuracy with a weapon as erratic as a fire extinguisher!

All in all, we’ve got extremely high hopes for this one, with the links to the existing trilogy seeming organic rather than crowbarred. Directed by Tony Gilroy and co-starring Rachel Weisz, Ed Norton, Joan Allen and David Strathairn, The Bourne Legacy opens in the UK on 13 August 2012. Time to get excited...

What do you make of that, then? Share your feedback with us, below...

At first I wasn't keen because I felt Damon and Greengrass ended it perfectly but this trailer has made me warm to the movie a little.

Now that they have chosen expand rather than reboot the Bourne Universe, I see how it could work.

They had *always* chosen to expand the Bourne Universe. Rebooting was never the intention.

Big fan of Renner so will see this for sure. The only thing I didn't like (and it goes for all movies) was the fake beard. Grow a real one.. only takes a couple of weeks. And if you don't have the time.. don't use one that looks so fake!
