Maniac has released a new red-band trailer, in which Elijah Wood perfects his lunatic routine as the scalp-happy proprietor of a store full of grizzly mannequins.
The film sees Wood star as the titular loner, who finds his life beginning to change when a pretty young artist asks him for help with her new exhibition. Little does she know, she’s asked the wrong guy…
The new trailer is startlingly violent and covered head-to-toe in blood, so if you’re of a nervous disposition, you might want to give it a wide berth. You have been warned…
Take a look, below…
Yep, that’s the first trailer we’ve seen in a while in which a woman is slowly scalped in front of the camera. Oh Elijah, whatever would Gandalf say, hmm?
Directed by Franck Khalfoun and co-starring America Olivo and Liane Balaban, Maniac will open in France on 26 December 2012, with a UK release to follow shortly after.

Some red band trailers barely live up to the expectation, but, my word, that one does. I think the achilles tendon got me more than the scalping at the end.

Yeah, the ankle-cutting was pretty horrible - i didn't know they could put that sort of thing in a trailer, but at least it you know what you're in for. I want to see this, as I've heard it's good and has a Drive-like feel, but i'm worried that violence of this level could shake me up something special
