While UK cinemagoers only have a couple of days left to wait before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in cinemas, the studio has dropped a welcome teaser for the next film in the form of a shiny new image.
The new still is taken from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug and features Bilbo Baggins looking anxious once more, but sporting a rather natty new set of robes.
He’s also stumbled upon a vast reserve of gold coins, but from the look of the expression on his face, it seems that he isn’t alone. And Smaug is a jealous protector of treasure…
"The dragon is a huge, wonderful, amazing part of [the second film], but it doesn't end there," said writer/producer Philippa Boyens. "Everyone can suspect there's a rather large battle in film three."
So there’s something to look forward to. In the meantime, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in the UK on Thursday. The wait is nearly at an end…

I have no interest in The Hobbit as it sort of feels like been-there-done-that. That said, my partner will not let me watch this as she read that animals were abused. And yes, she carries my balls in her purse.

@CaptainCrazy, Is it a small purse? But seriously I kind of agree with you. They had a choice between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings back in the late 90's. Which one to make. Chronologically it made sense to do the Hobbit first but more than likely passed on the idea for the more interesting and exciting possibilities of LOTR. That possibly shows the lack of faith and trust in The Hobbit as an adaptation. Not to say that I wont go see it. I wanna see what the fuss is with 48fps in a movie theatre.

Reminded me of Peter Griffin smashing himself up, after trying to dive into a pool of gold coin a la Scrooge McDuck : "Arghh! It's not a liquid! It's a great many pieces of solid matter that form a hard floor-like surface! Arrrgh!”

CaptainCrazy - your partner seems pretty gullible to believe everything she reads.

smellyhands - Peter wanted to make The Hobbit first but couldn't because there was an issue with the rights.
