New image released for The Hobbit

Countdown begins to first official trailer

The first official trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set to be released at around 3am tomorrow morning, and to whet our appetites still further, the film’s official Facebook page has released a new still of Martin Freeman’s Bilbo.

There’s not too much to report about the new image, suffice to say that it shows Bilbo looking bright-eyed and bushy tailed in the middle of his quest.

The more eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that Martin Freeman is sporting a very similar jacket and waistcoat ensemble as Ian Holm did in The Fellowship Of The Ring. It’s that kind of attention to detail that puts Peter Jackson and his team in a class of their own.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for that trailer so we can have it with you as soon as possible. Officially, it’s not set to land until the small hours of tomorrow morning, but these things often have a way of arriving early…

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released in the UK on 14 December 2012.

Will you be staying up to catch a glimpse of the new trailer? Tell us, below.

Is it shocking that I find this single image more exciting than the entire TDKR trailer? I'm equally stoked for both movies though... ;-)

Hey Apo, what's TDKR? I never heard of it. I heard The Dark Knight Rises but not of TDKR.

Well, this isn't "exciting", per se, but I hope we get a trailer veeeeery soon. Still pretty cool.

guys you know i love you but you are wrong in a detail here. he is not in the "middle" of his journey in this pic. He is at Rivendale which is in the first 1/3 of the story.
