New images and poster for Evil Dead

If you go down to the woods today…

Fede Alvarez’s forthcoming remake of Evil Deadhas released a brand new poster, as well as a batch of new images, including one of those infamous possessed trees.

The new poster is basically a red version of the one we’ve already seen, repeating its bold tag-line claim to be “the most terrifying film you will ever experience”.

Meanwhile, the new images give us a few new glimpses of some of the horror involved, including an attack by those demonic trees, and a glimpse of that iconic chainsaw.

Co-starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas, and with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell on board in a production capacity, Evil Dead will open in the UK on 19 April 2013.

Take a look at the new images and poster, below…

What the hell? Chainsaw? I'd like to see someone try to cut down a tree with that! This is not giving me good vibes at all. Usually remakes don't bother me, but this seems pointless. I'll stick with my originals I think.

If you had seen the trailer you would realise that they do use the chainsaw

Maybe they do have a chainsaw in it, but that pic seems to indicate that she goes at her arm with an electric kitchen knife... captioned as 'iconic chainsaw'. Either way, I really don't think I'll be watching this. Having watched the original to death (no pun intended), I don't see how a remake of it can boast at being the most terrifying experience when the source isn't all that scary - never mind terrifying. Even back in the day, it was disturbing, at best. Raimi promised that Drag me to Hell would be a return to his horror roots and blow our minds. And it sucked. I'll wait until some of my friends who are more dedicated Raimi fanboys tell me what they think before I decide whether I watch it or ignore it completely.
