Lily Collins and Armie Hammer get close

Mirror Mirror has released a new batch of on-set images featuring what looks like the first clinch between Lily Collins’ Snow White and Armie Hammer’s dashing Prince Andrew.

The image in question shows Snow White looking rather dishevelled as she swoons in the arms of the prince. Perhaps she’s just been doing a spot of brawling? She has been trained in combat, after all…

Elsewhere, there’s a look at Julia Roberts’ wicked Queen being levered into her corset, and Court Attendant Nathan Lane sporting what look like a pair of cockroach antennae. Seeing as the Queen turns him into one in the trailer, we’d say that’s a safe conclusion to draw.

We’ve been fairly down on Mirror Mirror in the past and there’s still a technicolour cartoonishness about these new images that does little to suggest this will be anything more than a camp kids movie.

We’d love to be proved wrong, but we can’t help feeling as though Tarsem Singh has painted his fairytale saga in the very broadest of brushstrokes. We’ll find out for sure when the film opens here on 2 April 2012.

Are we being too hard on Mirror Mirror, or is it going to be a car-crash? Tell us, below.

There is no other way that I can describe my expectations other than annoying; I expect an extremely annoying smarmy film. This is yet another example of how this annoying self awareness of the "Glee Generation" is seeping into every facet of Hollywood. It will be nearly impossible to enjoy this film as the smug sense of self awareness will likely destroy any charm or emotional impact that the fairy tale could possess. Julia Roberts seems like she will be in her standard fair of "not funny enough to laugh at." I expect this film to fail in the comedic, emotional and intellectual. When the trailer is this irritating, the movie is not off to a good start. http://www.videodetective.com/movies/mirror-mirror/673362
