New images from Prometheus

The crew head onto the alien planet

Prometheushas debuted a handful of new images in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, featuring the exploratory crew taking their first tentative steps onto the alien planet.

The latest shots show the landing party gathered together in their space-suits, before heading inside the mysterious temple. There's also another shot of Noomi Rapace looking worried, of which there are now quite a few.

Finally, there's an image of Rapace dicking around with Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender in an in-costume photoshoot. There's nothing particularly relevant about it, but it made us chuckle just the same.

The new images arrive just days after it was confirmed that Prometheus would be released in the UK with a 15 certificate and no cuts, suggesting that while the guts and gore might not reach Alien levels of ickiness, it will still be a nerve-shredding ride.

Prometheus opens in the UK on 1 June 2012. The waiting is almost over...

with film running at 24 frames a second, and an estimated running time of 2 hours for Prometheus I work out that it will take 172800 images for the complete film. I think that is exactly the amount of images from Prometheus I have seen on this and other websites this year. If I collate them and put them in order I could probably make the whole film. I'll have to do the sound myself though :(

I'm starting to get a lottile concerened that this deluge of images before a films release is starting to become the norm. I suppose the fact that the Avengers film has had one of the biggest openings ever is going to give studio bosses all the justification they need to continue doing it. I think they're starting to give too much away now. Although in the Avengers most of the 'cool' bits had not been leaked in the trailer, there was still plenty i'd have rather seen for the first time during the film; like what the Hulk looked like, the fact that the Hellicarrier was in it, etc...

Not sure how I feel about the 15 certificate. On one hand the 15 border is getting more relaxed over time and the line between 15 and 18 is getting quite blurred. but on the other I'd like an 18 so I know for sure that it's going to be on level with the others even though there are no others because 'this is not an alien film'
