New international trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation: watch now

"Welcome to hell"

G.I. Joe: Retaliation has released a new international trailer, in which the civilised world finds itself at the mercy of Zartan, Cobra and some weapons of mass destruction that definitely do exist.

The fiendish terrorist has infiltrated the US government, killed all but a handful of the Joes and framed the organisation as a whole for betraying the American people.

Now he boasts to the UN that he is in possession of, "an advanced weapons system capable of destroying each of your countries fourteen times over… and all at the push of a button." Damn.

Take a look at the new trailer below…

Fortunately, The Rock is on hand to make sure Zartan does't have it all his own way, and it isn't long before he's recruited the original Joe (Bruce Willis) to back him up.

If possible, this new trailer contains even more OTT action than the ones that have gone before, and if nothing else, it should certainly be an exciting ride for fans of fighty, explodey goodness.

Directed by Jon M. Chu and co-starring Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson and Jonathan Pryce, G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens in the UK on 3 August 2012.

Looks a bit... Cocky. The original (pah 'the original') was fun as hell. YES it was bad but I enjoyed it a lot and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it. It managed to have fun and slightly naive protagonists that were dumb but at least mildly endearing, capturing the boys-toys ridiculousness of the film "What does it accelerate?" "You" WOO, awesome, high fives all around etc etc. The grizzled, OLD protagonists in this look bored and like they're having no fun. And fun was the only thing the last film had going for it. And there's a dissertation on G.I. Joe. What a load of time I just wasted.

Is there an "alert a moderator" link for the article? There are two international trailers out today - the other one being the best one. I can't wait for this film, it appears to be a clear improvement on the first film, Cobra properly being represented, the dull cast of the first film being blown up (albiet off-screen), yet again Total Film have missed a vital point entirely in only finding one of the videos...
