New Nightmare On Elm Street teaser online

Freddy's fiery origin revealed in explosive promo

BY Andy Lowe Sep 28th 2009 8:08AMFILED UNDER: Movie news

An all-new teaser for Samuel Bayer/Michael Bay's Nightmare On Elm Street rework has crept out onto the internet, wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (metaphorically).

It features the same footage that left 'em whooping at July's Comic-Con, focusing on dream-dwelling child-killer Freddy Krueger's origin story and flashing plenty of delicious glimpses of Jackie Earle Haley wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (literally).

We're normally pretty grumpy about horror remakes, but this looks the blood-streaked business - a long way from the overly jokey pap of the likes of Freddy vs Jason. See the trailer below...

The movie is out in the US on 30 April 2010.

Thoughts? Does JEH look and feel the part? Are you excited - or shouldn't we just be happy with Wes Craven's original?

are they chasing bryn from gavin and stacey at the start of the trailer?

shouldn't have shown us freddy's face, they could have used all the free internet buzz they would have gotten with NOES geeks wondering...

doesnt look ace, doesnt look bad...

and i dont give a toss what anyone says, haley is not big enough or intimidating in any way shape or form....

It looks alright.

I agree with Robby even though Haley is a fantastic actor physically he's not really intimdating , he doesn't really have a presence that will make people fear him.

Sooooo... Freddy wasn't a child killer. Now HE'S the victim. 'kay.
Remember back in the day when evil people were villains and not heroes? That was fresh.

I disagree, after seeing Haley as the awesome Rorschack I wouldn't mess with him. Freddy is more about character than strength and size however and I believe that he will pull it off.

check his role in little children, very good as a peado...
there is a lot of love for him as rorshack its kinda justified but on in relation to how much the rest of the cast (read charmless feckless oxygen thieves who have very clearly had a charisma bypass)were shoite.

but seriously, no intimidation, thats not just size thats swagger the way you carry yourself. ok we've not seen enough and you wont with all the fade to black cuts (seriously hollywood every trailer looks exactly the same and im hacked off with every trailer giving away the 1st act) the classic iconography was all there, but thats what you expect to keep the fanboys happy..

I wonder if Bayer (many of his music videos being uber-tripe) has had the same issue as shnyder did with watchmen, is he clever and talented enough to evolve it or too afraid (or untalented) to change it?

Hmm...it looks like it takes a lot of shots from the original (bath tub scene etc). Do we really need a shot for shot re-make?

As far as Freddy's size goes, re-watch the original, Robert Englund is hardly 6ft 7in and stacked. It's not about physical size, hence why original Michael Myers is far scarier than Rob Zombie's ridiculous wrestler!

Not sold so far.

The video has been removed from Youtube
Bloody Hell, it's a trailer.
Surely the people in charge of these things
should be delighted with the free publicity
they are getting for their movie.
