New poster for The Dark Knight Rises

“A fire will rise”

The Dark Knight Rises has debuted a new poster online, which takes the design aesthetic of the original teaser poster and adds a healthy dose of flame to the mix.

“A fire will rise” warns the new tagline, and sure enough, there’s plenty of flaming wreckage to complement Gotham’s already crumbling skyline.

Meanwhile, Batman stands helplessly in the foreground, shoulders bowed and eyes cast down to the ground. Never has the secondary tagline, “the legend ends”, looked more appropriate. Has the Bat really been broken?

It’s very reminiscent of the poster for The Dark Knight, which also used the fire motif to good effect. Though while the Joker just wanted to see Gotham burn, Bane seems hell bent on reducing it to a heap of smouldering rubble…

The Dark Knight Rises
opens on the UK on 20 July 2012, as if you didn’t already know. In the meantime you can check out the new poster in all its glory, below…

Love it - love it. Warner better step up their marketing campaign soon if they hope to match The Avengers. This film hasn't built the same level of anticipation through marketing campaigns as with TDK. Makes me wonder....

@Captain, its because they know they don't need too. Everyone and their cat is already aching to see this movie, it would almost be a waste of money to do a huge marketing campaign for it. This poster does look visually spectacular :-D

@Heisenberg - it might be surprising that not everyone follows film news on the web or are comic book fans. Avengers was a hit due to its crossover appeal. TDK was a hit, amongst other reasons, because of its crossover appeal to. It was a Michael Mann-esque thriller that brought in ALL types of filmgoers and the fact that it was a 5-star film was icing on the cake. Do not underestimate a good marketing push.

@Captain i know not everyone follows comic books or film news. TDK was a hit, and a gigantic hit at that, as people who never cared about batman were suddenly watching him and opened up to the Gotham world. Which is why so many people are dying to watch this. Not only off the back of TDK but also Inception, most people, including lay-film people, now know that Nolan made both those movie and nearly everyone you talk too has enjoyed them both immensely, this automatically leads to people knowing/assuming that the TDKR will be something to behold, and will not miss it for the world. I'm not saying they wont advertise it, of course they will, and they start pushing it mid june i would think, 5-6weeks of build up is enough for this movie, i just don't think too many people want too many, if any, new trailers too see how things are building up, what we have seen so far is enough, and should be when they hit TV etc as well.

Yes, I totally agree. What can I say? I'm a forceful lover; not a fighter.

I don't like it. The original building insignia was perfectly fine, with this one looks like they have copy and pasted batman on for the sake of it.
