New poster for The Expendables 2

The gang's all here

The Expendables 2 has released a brand new poster, and with its bared muscles, roaring explosions and proliferation of heavy-duty weaponry, its more or less exactly what you’d expect from Sly and the gang.

This new one-sheet manages the not inconsiderable feat of squeezing in the entire primary cast, with everyone from Liam Hemsworth’s pretty boy to Chuck Norris’ grizzled old campaigner present and correct.

It’s worth mentioning that there’s no sign of supporting player Nan Yu, who had previously featured prominently in the publicity material. Perhaps Lionsgate’s marketing team felt that even one girl was one girl too many for this kind of testosterone fest.

Plot-wise, the film will see Sly’s motley crew reunited by Bruce Willis’ Mr. Church, who’s keen to call in a favour that pits the Expendables against Euro-baddie Jean-Claude Van Damme. He in turn is up to no good with a staggering payload of plutonium that could reduce the Earth to a ball of flaming wreckage.

However, we all know the plot will be largely irrelevant, as one-liners, explosions and Arnie are the real draw here. The Expendables 2 opens in the UK on 17 August 2012.

What do you make of the new poster? Tell us, below!

What is the ratio of muscles vs acting ability in this poster? Just wondering whether Taylor Lautner could be crowbarred in?

The bloke on the far left in the hat looks as if he's stumbled in from a fishing trip, whilst Hemsworth is practically not in the bloody poster. The Expendables 3 is going to have a crowd of people stretching so far back you can't see them any more, their faces all covered with a bunch of surnames that no one recognises. Also the perspective with the buildings behind them is way off.

Stallone looks like Danny Trejo drawn by a 12 yr old, whereas Van damme has been replaced by a waxwork of The Termintaor . That is all.

I was disappointed with the first film, but hopefully the second will be a no-brainer, action-packed blast! If Simon West can recapture the feel of Con-Air (as opposed to Tomb Raider) then it could be a winner...

'Back for War' - ha, very clever. It's like 'Back for more,' only not. Wow, with witty wordplay like that on the poster , i cannot wait to see the intellectual put downs that Stallone and co give in the move.
